Fun day today!  Husband decided to work from home and we went for a walk this morning together.

Pictures :

Our property borders state land and we have the most awesome sledding hill-it’s just a short walk from our house.

The hill is so steep that the kids almost have to crawl to get up it.

We went out for lunch today at Ruby Tuesdays and with 5 children the bill can add up.  Imagine Rich’s surprise when the manager came to our table and said that someone had PAID OUR BILL for us!  Thank you, whoever you were!  It was such an encouragement to us and also very humbling.  We didn’t deserve it, and it showed someone’s huge heart of generosity.  We were so touched.

  1. GREAT GREAT POST!  That’s great someone paid your bill!  Someone paid my parents bill at a drive thru Mcdonalds once.  =]
What great pics of you and your husband to cherish.
    Have a great weekend!

  2. I love those snowy pictures of yours, and the sweet pictures of you and Rich together.  Your family was a blessing to someone, and they in return blessed you.  I think that is just so amazingly special.  I hope you have a great evening.  Love you.

  3. WOW a triple blessing! Husband /Daddy staying home, God’s glorious snow-filled morning, and a unexpected gift,The B&W of you and Rich are delightful..it’s good for kids to see their parents affection for one another

  4. Beautiful pictures- I love it! No snow here in Sunny Florida.. sad to report Wow- I love when God surprises us with a special blessing like a meal paid by a stranger.

  5. Wow what a fun post. Josh and I were looking at it together and marveled at that hill. It looks like so much fun. Love the pictures of you and Rich together. And what a blessing!! God is so wonderful to provide in such unusual ways sometimes.

  6. YIKES……..Uh-ohhhhh……..mom and dad kissing again?!?!? ;0 Had to write that….(it is our joke between us now) lol
looks like you all had fun!!

  7. What a blessing to have all that beautiful nature to enjoy! I loved the pictures. How sweet an ending to the day to have someone pay for your dinner. God is good! It is a very humbling feeling, isn’t it? Before we became pastors and missionaries, we both had good (well paid) jobs and loved to bless people that way. Now we are more in the receiving postion. It took me a while to get used to it. I would prefer to give. I think in way, it is harder for me to receive. Now all we have left to give is our lives.

  8. What a fun day! My heart is warm after seeing you guys smooch in the woods, play with the kids, climb the hill…. I like all the pictures you have on your main page too. Glad lunch was good and a blessing. I LOVE RUBY TUESDAYS loaded potatoes and salad bar combo. Good enough for 2 meals. 🙂
Have a great day. I enjoy every post of yours but rarely get to comment.

  9. What a wonderful day!! Somebody paid for your lunch.. I’d still be smiling. These random acts of kindness..Aren’t they just….wonderful??? Once I paid for someone’s purchases at Target. The woman couldn’t believe I’d done that.
I told her that there was nothing that she could do for me, but that if she wanted to… She could pay for someone else’s purchases one day or do another random act of kindness to a total stranger.
Hey, we are all thrown together on this huge green/blue ball…can’t we make a small difference in someone else’s life?? It feels great.
    Have a good weekend.
    Christy

  10. How generous your benefactor was!!  I love the sledding hill.  We had some wonderful hills to sled on as children, and some interesting sleds.  All of us kids along with my cousins would pile onto things like old refrigerator doors and car hoods.  Those were the good old days.  Blessings

  11. Those are GREAT pictures!! It IS a blessing when someone does something so generous and unexpected as pay you bill. That happened to me one day in the grocery store. I had an almost $200.00 bill..I was restocking pantry and household goods. I had my 4 boys with me and the girls were at dance class. We stopped at Harris Teeter nearby. This young 60 something year old couple had ooged us the entire time we shopped. They were enamoured with the way my 11yo son pushed the cart of babies (3yo and Noah 7months..was 3 months at the time). I had the grocery cart and had my 9 yo fetching things off my list from the shelf. The couple asked me if I knew where..(i don’t remember the item right now) something was. The boys and I took them to the item and continued shopping. They said thank you and I thought they left and that was the end of it. Till we were checking out and the man walks up and pays our bill..says God Bless you and leaves….WOW!!!Such a blessing!!!I absolutely love your snowy family sledding pictures!!!Blessings,Angie

  12. Hello!!….What beautiful pictures!! I just love them. I look forward to coming to your site and seeing what new pictures you have posted. They are really great. Thats a nice hill for sliding…..looks like fun. What a blessing to have your dinner paid for in the restaurant. Have a great weekend….

  13. What a BEAUTIFUL way to spend the day with your family. What a generous person that the Lord used yesterday to add to your beautiful day. That happened to us as well, one morning we took our crew out to breakfast and when my husband went to pay the bill the waitress said “Oh someone paid it in full for you” PRAISE GOD!. Have a wonderful weekend.

  14. Your pictures are beautiful (as always).  And “Your Welcome.”….Just kidding it wasn’t me 🙂  but that is just a great idea!  We had someone hand us some money in church the other week and said “take your family out to dinner” and walked away.  Someone we didn’t really even know.  How extremely kind.  What a blessing!
    Have a great week-end!

  15. What a fun family time in the snow!     It’s so amazing to watch the Lord work in people’s hearts.  It is more blessed to give than receive, but also from experience, it is very humbling to be on the receiving end.  Praise HIM!

  16. Shanda, what a fun time your family had! You are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place. How sweet to show your kids how much you and your husband love each other, it’s priceless. What a fun day.

  17. BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL photos!  My husband is sitting here next to me and I plan on showing him when I am through writing this…Those quotes are very good ones.  They are sooo my heart, especially the one about the sky being our daily bread. Wonderful.
That is such a blessing about your family’s bill being paid!  I can so relate, we have six in our family and we have to be sooo careful where we eat out.  Usually it’s Chinese or Chipotle and the girls automatically order water to drink. : )   Sometimes when dh and I are out on date night we’ll go to Target and we’ll sometimes get seperate shopping carts to quickly pick up what we both need…He’ll tell the checker…”Take care of the lady in back of me…”  We have a lot of fun with that!  lol
Take care and have a wonderful evening!  Love, ~Amelia

  18. What an awesome post.  I loved the ones of you and Rich.  It is so awesome that your kids can grow up seeing the two of you showing affection and love for eachother.  Your chilren captured it so well.  That is so awesome that your bill was paid for for dinner.  I love it when God does those kind of things.  It’s a reminder of how He truly is so involved in our lives!  I love you and hope your having a great weekend!  Love, Elisha

  19. Your snow is so beautiful.  What a blessing to live there.  Connecticut is such a lovely state.  A double blessing about your dinner!
