quote

From the book, Holiness, by J.C. Ryle 1816-1900

I see some professing Christians always running about after spiritual food, always in public, and always out of breath and in a hurry, and never allowing themselves leisure to sit down quietly to digest, and take stock of their spiritual condition. . . . .

Spiritual prosperity depends immensely on our private religion,
and private religion cannot flourish unless we determine that
by God’s help
we will make the time,
whatever trouble it will cost us,
for thought,
for prayer,
for the Bible,
and for private communication with Christ.
Alas!  That saying of our Master is sadly overlooked:
“Enter into thy closet and shut the door.” (Matthew 6:6)

  1. That quote is great, alot of “meat to chew on”. RYC: they are real buttons, i use “Glue Dots” (you can find them at any craft store) and they are the perfect size for sticking buttons on. I too LOVE buttons. All the white ones on the “playing” page are actually vintage from my husbands great grandmother. She recently passed and I got a huge jar full of vintage buttons she had saved starting in the 30’s! I was so excited! Have a wonderful night, sorry your little guy is sick. I can’t wait until Spring!!!!

  2. In those quotes is so much challenge and encouragement for me to truly devote more time to my relationship with the Lord! I needed that: it is so easy to say “I am too busy. How will I find the time?” I must make the time, or my life suffers for it. So often I have seen that in hindsight. There is never too much time spent at the foot of His throne, praying and learning. Thanks for this post, and hope you have a good day today! πŸ™‚ Love, Heather

  3. RYC: Breakfast is a lot easier for me too! LOL. I am by far a morning person compared to the evening, and I think that’s why I love my crock-pot so much: I can throw ingredients in when I still have some energy during the day, and not have to worry about making a big meal when I have my two little ones having their ‘fussy times’ at 5:00! (You must please share some of your secrets; having 5 children in your household is surely a blessing, but I bet sometimes it is a challenge too!) A lot of times after we get the kids to bed, I am ready for bed myself by 9:00!! πŸ˜‰ H
