I just knocked myself silly crawling around my floor picking up “stuff”. . .repairing my room, which has become the local hangout of my 5 who all love computer games.  All of a sudden I hit my head hard on the desk, I even have a bump!!  I said, “OHHH!!  STUPID!!” under my breath, to no one in particular, which makes me laugh now as I write about it.

My 2 babies are watching Winnie the Pooh.

I caught my Grace sitting in her sunny room, quietly painting her nails.  She looked like a picture and was so precious sitting there.  Thankfully she is using baby pink today instead of that awful dark red like last time.

I sent the big boys outside for fresh air.  They did not want to go but I knew once they were out they would find adventure, and I WAS RIGHT!

Tonight is ravioli for dinner.

My head hurts.

I figured out a fun way to do spelling.  While giving words, take pictures of the student who is spelling.  It passes the time away for teacher.  Here are 2 that I took of sweet Gee:

Which one do you like better?  The color or the blk/white?  I couldn’t decide. . . . .she’s getting older now, 7 years old.  Go ahead and laugh, but honestly there is a lot of difference between a toddler girl and a 2nd grader!  It’s so interesting to think about my daughter.  Having 4 boys really makes her “girlness” obvious–she’s talks a lot more but in a quieter way, she’s gentle, her hands and feet are more delicate and little.  She still loves to climb on Daddy’s lap, she did this morning in her pj’s.  First thing.

Then we have THESE TWO:

Are they cute or are they cute?????

DSCN48610001 DSCN48650001 DSCN48520001 There’s just something about that Diesel!  He’s so cross!  Just look at that face!

So that’s my day.  Hanging out in my home with the kids.  I didn’t take any pictures of the big boys but I did ask Ethan, “Ethan, can you think of anything weird about me?” and he said, “No!  Why would I? Why do you ask?”

“I just wanted to know what you would say”

Nothing! I’m not saying anything because I can’t think of anything!” and off he went.

Colleen, my dear aunt who is only 1 and 3/4 years older than me, tagged me.  I am supposed to tell everyone 6 weird things about me.  This is hard.  I don’t think I am very weird but here it goes:

1. I loved to watch gymnastics as a teen and taped every single televised competition that I possibly could.  I still have all my tapes.

2. I want to have a flock of chickens.  This is weird to some people.

3. Some of my friends think it’s weird that Rich and I hold hands, sit close to each other, and maybe even give each other a quick kiss in public places.

4. When I get a box of chocolates which is NOT very often, I take a small bite out of each one because I cannot wait to know what’s what.

5. I collect pigs and used to want real pigs.

6. I love to read Reminisce magazine, I really really do!  It brightens my whole day when an issue comes.  I love reading about the way things used to be.

7. I sometimes ACT weird.

I’m laughing right now. . . . . . .

EDIT (LATER)–I asked my sister and she said, “you love to run around in the rain and you always have” and “you were the only one of us kids with black hair, the rest of us were blonds”

  1. I think I like the expressive way she is holding her head in the b/w best.    Those 2 little guys ARE cute ~ they have ornery looks in that first picture, especially the littlest one!  LOL.  What a nice day you had!

  2. I couldn’t help but come by and tell you I too love Reminisce!  My girls and I sneak away with them at our house!  You will hear a yell…”Who has the Reminisce!!!”  LOL
Your pics are beautiful!  Your little girl looks so dainty, so sweet and your little boys look so cute and ready to play!  Darling.

  3. By the way, I ran into the seat at the end of our bed last week and really banged my leg good (bad!) and now this week, I have a bruise on my forehead for running into the countertop as I leaned over (really dumb!).  Must be contagious!  Ouch!

  4. I absolutely love the picture at the top of your page…and of the pictures of Grace, I like the black and white one.  The absence of color makes images become emotional and raw.  She looks very contemplative.  I like Reminisce magazine also.  I have a vintage soul I think, sounds like maybe you do too.  Thanks for sharing your day!

  5. Hehe.  I like your weird things, your weirdness makes you well, YOU.  I’m way more weird than you are, anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚  I like the black and white one of Grace the best.  Ah, that Devious Deisel, he’s always so cranky ๐Ÿ™‚  Love ya!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Cute kids!!  I generally would pick B&W, too, but I like the color combination in the 1st one, so I’ll go with the color print.

  7. Ok, those two boys were up to something, weren’t they? You can just see in their faces that they were planning some kind of mischief. I think I actually like the color version of the Grace picture the best. The way you wrote this post just made me smile. It looks like you had a nice, relaxing day. I’m glad. You needed it. And, yes, your weird. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I’m your friend, so I can tell you that in love, right? ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I like the color photo of your daughter because of the warmth of the light on her cheeks and the little dog. The picture of  “These Two” made me LOL…They looks so full of mischief! Or is it just that wonderful boy energy They are wonderfully cute

  9. OUCH on your head I hope you feel better soon. I think I like the color picture of Grace, I love the sunlight hitting her face and coconuts (isn;t that his name?) too. I also love train pics, we have the same set… the kids play for hours with it.

  10. I think I love the black and white picture best.
I’ve often thought about raising chickens.  I think it would be great to be able to collect your own eggs each morning. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I did not scroll through the entire post to look at the pictures before reading it like I usually do, so the two boys came as a surprise to me and I smiled outloud (not a laugh not a smile something really great b/w the two).
I echo all the people who said they like the border, Oh I could just squeeze David!!!
I like the color, you loose some of the mood that that light gives, but both are good and I can see why it was a hard choice.

  12. A friend of mine introduced me to Reminicse too and I love it!!!!!!  (I love old things).   I love the color picture of G. best –  but I can’t decide if its because of the pose (head down) or that it is in color.  beautiful!  I love the one of the two youngest too – your kids are adorable!!  ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. I think I like the colored shot best, only because the lighting makes her look like she has a glow about her.
Yes they are way too cute!
I was asking my kids for weird things about me, they had no problem coming up with some LOL!
    Hugs

  14. It’s hard to say if the color or b&w is best – I like them both! I love your photographer’s eye. How is the homeschooling going? Your little ones are so precious! I had to smile at your #1 weird thing: I used to watch gymnastics avidly too when I was younger! I had a movie about Nadia that I must have practically worn out by watching it over and over. One of my favorite gymnasts is Shannon Miller. I don’t have as much time to watch anymore, but once and a while I might catch a college competition when I’m flipping the TV channels, and I still love to sneak it in! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am the same way with #2, and I love #3 & 4! RYC: I’ll have to post the story of me and my hubby sometime. (BTW, did you get the ministry site link?) That picture is one fo my favorites. Hope your head is feeling better, and have a great weekend! Love, Heather

  15. What adorable children and photos! I hope your head’s better. I just posted my six weird things!
I must say that when I read the part about you watching gymnastics, I thought of my oldest dd. She loved to watch gymnastics when she was growing up. And then I come here to post a comment, and who posted right above me? My daughter!
Come by my blog anytime. Have a great day!

  16. we are all weird in some way… but you are not weird to hold your husbands hand and kiss him in public….it really is ok to do that….. ๐Ÿ˜‰
now the pig and chicken thing…hmmmm I don’t know! ๐Ÿ™‚ ha
it was good talking to you yesterday. have a good FRIDAY.

  17. Hey Shanda- Hope your head is feeling better, that must have hurt. I love all the pictures that you took. Grace is just beautiful and your boys are adorable. I know you must be busy. You don’t see at all weird to me. I too, loved gymnastics as a kid and I loved ice skating. Have I ever taken any lessons, no! But, I still enjoyed watching it. The pictures of your boys by the fire and playing with the train look wonderful. I love all the colors in the picture. I actually like both pictures of Grace. Pretty as a picture.

  18. First of all, I do hope your head is feeling better (((hugs)) ouch!!!  Next, I like both pictures of your dd, you are such a talented photographer.  Your daughter is a beautiful little girl, and yes, those boys are just too adoreable!!!  I love the pics with the trains.  My ds used to looovvveee trains too, he thinks at the ripe old age of 6 now that he is too old for trains.  I have never heard of reminice magazine, and I think it is sweet that you and your dh still show affection in public I used to love to watch gymnastics too.  ~Have a great weekend!!!

  19. And with all that weirdness, look how precious your kids turned out!!  We need to be ‘weird’.  Its the best part of the uniqueness of each of us.  Have fun being ‘weird’ today!

  20. Your kids are cutie pies. I love the one of your two boys. and about your 6 weird things. Most of them I don’t think are weird at all. And if wanting a flock of chickens is weird, then I’m very weird because I have a flock of 8 chickens. I love them, I get between 6-7 eggs a day and I love just watching them walk around my garden.

  21. I love the shadow and the curve of the cheek on the first photo of your daughter. Your boys are adorable, and I’ll bet they keep you hopping! Well, I know they do from past posts! LOL! ** My girls used to hate it that their daddy and I would be affectionate in public, or even just home in front of them. Mom! Dad! That’s gross! Too funny! ** WOW! Would you believe I once had a piece published in Reminisce? It was the March/April 2003 issue! I used to subscribe when we lived in America.

  22. RYC: I always loved Shannon Miller’s graceful style. She brought such artistry to the sport. She was perfect on beam (my favorite event). So were you a gymnast too? I took gymnastics in high school, but never got very far. I also loved Dominique Moceanu’s energy. She was such a little performer. Have a beautiful day! ๐Ÿ™‚ Heather

  23. no, holding hands with your husband isn’t weird – it’s RIGHT.  :  )  For you; I’m not going to hold his hand or sit close to him, and you can tell him that!  I can just see his face …
Remember the comment about the picture on your fridge a long time ago?  “I look so *&^%” That look!  :  P
Pigs, chickens … well, you were right to list them.  :  D
Ethan is right, though; you aren’t much weird.   I SHOULD KNOW! Love ya!

  24. Regarding the pigs–did you know that 2007 is “Year of the Pig” (Chinese calendar)????  So, its your year!!  All of the newspaper ads for stores have pictures of pigs (many of them gold) this month…  My brother (who enjoys creating puns) called this year “two sows and seven” (two thousand seven)… enjoy this year.  FYI: Chinese think of pigs as a symbol of blessing of prosperity.  I’ve even seen Korean birthday cakes for the 60th birthday (an “important birthday” in their culture) which were made in the shape of a pig; with one piglet for each child in the family!!  (Kind of the same concept as a mother’s ring, I guess.)LOL
Have a good day!  As always, I enjoy your pictures.
