The weather. Isn’t that what everyone is talking about here in the Northeast? I’m sure it was the upper 60’s today. The perfect day to be outdoors. I went for a walk this afternoon- I wore a jean jacket over my sweater and got too hot!
My cat, Spot, kept me company:
“Ping! Ping!” said the windchimes, “look at me! Take my picture, too!”
“I hear you!”, I said out loud.
I love my windchimes, I tied them up myself, using one of my little daughter’s blue hair ribbons.
Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain. ~Henry David Thoreau
A tree hug. Can you see the pinecones? On some days they are open and other days they are closed.
A bright spot of red.
Wooly-bear, do you think it’s spring? Or maybe it’s still fall?
This soft, wet, spongy moss was growing on a rock.
Jacob discovered this little tree. A grape vine twirled it’s way up and caused the tree to grow in this fashion.
By the way, Jacob bought himself a new capgun today with birthday money. . . .
Whenever I see the peeling bark of these types of trees I think of how people are like this, muli-layered. We see the outside layer of everyone but it is rewarding to keep going past the layers into the realness of a person and to experience depth.
To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring – these are some of the rewards of the simple life. ~John Burroughs

Very pretty. All the pictures seem to capture the sense of winter. I especially like the close up of the leaves, so crisp and colorful. Thanks for sharing!
Hubby and I got to go for a walk around our “trail” all by ourselves today. The kids stayed inside playing, and we took the walkie-talkie with us and kept tabs of them…but it was just nice to actually walk with just the two of us.
What a pretty cat….
I love the way you savored the details while being out in nature. So many people walk by and miss the special gifts nestled among God’s good earth. 🙂
Beautiful pics of our beautiful weather today. I took some, too, just don’t know when I’ll get the chance to put them up. I’m glad you got to enjoy the day.
I love the photos. Today was beautiful here too. I went out to Jamaica Bay this morning to walk and watch the birds. It was cloudy and foggy when I got there, but the clouds broke and the transition from cloudy to clear was a treat. Wish I would have thought to take my camera.
gorgeous photos!! the catterpillar is really neat — so is the bark peeling off the tree. i love going for walks…i always see little things that might not otherwise be noticed…
Great pictures. 🙂
I love these photos. I’d love to wander the woods with you sometime and chat 🙂

Oh Shanda, thanks for this. This morning, I needed this peaceful journey ~ loved the last photo. And moss is one of my favorite things.
I almost forgot to tell you how much i was blessed by your photographs and ponderings.
The close up of the leaves is perfect, I keep coming back to study all the details
Great pics. I often think how beautiful our God made this world,Imagine how MUCH MORE heaven, it truly will be awesome.
Wonderful post! I love the pictures and thoughts with them: an insect’s view, multi-layered, the simple life, your dialogue with the wind chime. 🙂 I smiled at the photo of the caterpillar. 🙂
I cannot believe how many posts I missed! You know I have been there with Coco and markers, and pen, and paint and and and…
This post here is full of wonderful picture, the browns are so rich in the second picture, the one with the leaf, and the moss is so green!!!
I also enjoyed your refreshing post, the photo matched well with your words.
