This is the story of my trip to NYC. It all began early Saturday morning. I got up at 5:30, showered and dressed, and drove to my sister’s house to pick her up. Then, after a quick trip to Starbucks and the ATM, we went to Kathy’s house. In all, there were 4 of us–Jen, Kathy, Amanda, and me.
Jen drove us right into the city. We were all amazed at her ability to adapt to NYC driving. Kathy and Amanda felt waves of nausea but thankfully, I do not get carsick. We arrived safe and sound at the parking garage around 10:00 am.
The first thing I noticed about this, my 2nd trip to The City, was that the smell was not as bad. The first time I went was with Jen and Kathy in August, the day of the blackout, in 2003but that’s another story.
Anyways, like I was saying, the smell was not as bad.
We were thankful for beautiful weather.
It was hard to keep up with Jenny-poo’s quick pace and soon we were all perspiring as we walked the busy streets.
(waiting to cross the street)
We shopped at American Girl Place. Wow, that place was nuts! I will never take Grace there, unless we go during the week on a school day.
Then, we watched a bit of the Veteran’s day parade.
Then, we ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp.
Then, Poor Amanda got really sick and we had to go home.
The End.
PS, Amanda is starting to feel better.

Wow! Breath taking photos, I LOVE the last shot, very interesting reflections in the windows.
Sounds like a really fun day, but going to NYC would scare me silly. Maybe someday.
Never been there…Someday. Great pics!
Pretty neat! You are braver than I. I am chicken to take on a city as big as NYC. lol.Great pics!Blessings
Finally! 🙂 I was so happy to see you had them up!
You and your sister look amazing, incredible thinking that I was just there!!!! Standing in that same spot!
Sorry it was cut short but it does look like you had some fun!!
love your NYC pics. My sister lives in NYC, so it all looks familiar.
Sounds like a fun day! If you ever take your daughter there, be sure to eat in their diningroom. My daughter (age 24) and I went with my cousin and her granddaughter (age 4). It was quite an experience. (Tho my 24-year-old daughter would definitely refuse to go again.) 🙂
Shandra,
Do you live in upstate NY? I live in Northern NJ. It takes us between 20 minutes to an hour to drive into NYC. My husband drives (not me!). We don’t all go in very often. You are right though – the weather, smell, air is stifling in the summer. It is much nicer when the weather is better. My husband commutes to Lower Manhattan M – F by bus, train, or subway. He used to work at the WTC. I wrote a bit about it on 9/11. Here is the post.

Have a lovely evening and thank you for sharing your NYC pictures!
Shandra,
I love CT. It is gorgeous there. My husband and I would go to a little B & B (the Riverwind Inn) in Deep River, CT. Simply lovely area.
I will be going to NYC…eventually! I told the hubby that I want to go and we’ve added it to the list. I loved the pictures. I feel like I get to do a bit of travelling through everyone elses adventures!
Your pictures were great! I would love to go to NYC again and you’re pictures have inspired me to start planning it. Love, Elisha
Hopefully the next time you go I won’t be nursing a baby. I really want to go, but Josh has no desire, so I will have to go with my friends. 🙂
Your pics were great! I would love to go to NYC someday. My oldest went to the American Girl Place in Chicago a few years ago with my mother in law and went bananas! Those were some great photos to scrap. Have a great day~ Laurel
