Feed my Child’s Soul

Just as we wouldn’t dream of making our children starve their bodies, we also wouldn’t dream of starving their souls.  I read this quote last night in my book and thought I would share:

“I have seen the happy effects of dealing plainly and thoroughly with children in the concerns of their souls”

Jonathan Edwards

  1. are your kids on the other time too? I had kids awake at 6:15 am this morning!! They NEVER get up that early….but I guess their bodies are on 7:00am their normal time!!! SO needless to say…..I think it is going to be a long day…. they are not fairing well and it is almost 8 am!! ;} Anyways! Have a good day!!

  2. I love the quote.  Thank you for sharing and for doing your job with joy.  I found your site through a friend of mine, mrags8 and I am glad that I did.  I needed to hear your joy for your family today.  I have two little boys, 16 months apart and I love them dearly but I don’t always exude the joy of the Lord in my day to day life.  Thanks.

  3. ryc: I have a habit of not finishing my thougths. I have only heard of him in the context of the Great Awakenings, you know the whole “sinners in the hand of an angry God” et al, so I am a bit biased. I have never read a good biography of him, perhaps I should look one up. What denom is he mostly associated with, do you know?

  4. yes, you are right! David went down at 9:30 and is currently still sleeping…not sure if that is good b.c now he won’t take his afternoon nap….o-well. Abigail even put herself to bed this morning! This is weird! So I have extra time to think and spend with the Lord! My husband is golfing this morning. I am going to be doing a bible study with one of our teen girls on Thurs. eve. so I have been praying and thinking through various topics. She wanted to study on being a godly lady. So this is a challenging subject! What does it mean to be a godly woman? Well I told her first hand it all boils down to your relationship & love for the Lord, and your prayer life……ahhh…this will be challenging for the both of us! I am excited to see how the Lord will lead through various lessons…that I have to come up with and study too! This will be good for the both of us! šŸ™‚

  5. Yes, it’s so important to feed them spiritually. It’s so nice to talk to Ainsley about Jesus now and see that she is starting to understand.BTW, Ainsley was up at 5:50 this morning. I hate this time change thing. Yesterday she was up at 5:20. So, I was up and doing laundry before the sun this morning.

  6. I really enjoy reading your posts.  What an encouragement you are to other young women who are in the process of raising their little ones.  It is obvious that they are the joy of your life.

  7. I just love your blog. I love the things you write about and the pictures are exquisite!
Thanks so much for sharing your heart and your life with us! How beautiful…….it always makes my day to read your entries and view your gorgeous pictures.
    Have a blessed day,
    Jana

  8. Love your quote!  That is my PASSION!!!
My children are up around 6 am anyway, so the time change wasn’t a big bump in the road.  There are both good and bad sides to teaching them to be “early to bed, early to rise.”
But, I guess it does cut down on the cheerios on the floor late at night.  ha ha ha!  We have a “closet eater” in the wee-hours of the morning, though.  Imagine walking into the half-bath and finding an empty 2-liter and cookie crumbs.
