Comfort in distress. . . . . .

Proverbs 17:22   “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Charles Bridges comments on this verse in part by saying…“If I be a pardoned sinner, an accepted child of God, what earthly trouble can sink me?”  and again, “All earthly enjoyments are now doubly blest with heavenly sunshine.”

“What shall separate us from the love of Christ?. . .  .shall distress?  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.  Nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of Christ”  Rom. 8

For the lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters:  and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

I am feeling a little bit low.  I’m thankful for it, though, because it is driving me to the Lord.  I’m being very enriched by my Bible reading and the Proverbs verse w/comment was sent to me from Dad.

Heavenly Sunshine

Update:  I’m feeling better now.  After we were done with school, I took the kids to the bookstore and I had a “decaf. Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte”.  On the way back home, we stopped at a fruit stand and spent over 30 dollars on fresh apples.  I was shocked at the price.  We eat our money in this house!

  1. If it wasn’t for the valleys in life, the mountain top experiences wouldn’t be nearly so sweet.  I pray the Lord gives you the peace you are seeking.  Have a great weekend.

  2. If Starbucks were in Israel many centuries ago, it would have been mentioned, I am convinced, in the book of Proverbs for it’s restoritive qualities.  I’m not being sacriligious, but looking back over the past through years, it seems the Lord has brought me a special passage, the prayers of saints, and a great (spicy!) cup of coffee when I needed Him most!  I just sat here and counted over a dozen instances to myself!
Maybe we should write a book!

  3. I am glad you are feeling better, I have been feeling kind of low lately as well (I am blaming it on the yucky heat) I will be lifting you up in prayer my dear sister in Christ. If you get a chance check out the 1 day old baby whale on my blog (that will make you smile) ((((((((HUGS)))))))) Michelle

  4. You are with the most important people in life, your beautiful children and great husband.  The “work” you do with them and interaction you have is so important to them.  Training them in school and “in the way in which they should go” is the most important interaction, I believe, a mother could have.  I know being with small humans can possibly stunt your social growth, but really what you and thousands of other mothers do is so important.  When your children get out in the world, the life you shared with them will enable them to love God, pray to Him and then to bless others.  I know you know this, but mothers don’t get the acknowledgment from “the world” they so deserve, not that you live for that. There are far too many children who don’t have mothers and families like yours and unfortunately we are seeing the consequences. I thank God again for people like you and your family and want to tell you how important your life is to God, our world and me.  I love the picture of you with your siblings?, you have so much joy on your face, so sweet. Thanks for sharing.  (My mother would use bobby pins for our hair, so frizzy…) God bless you, Evalyne

  5.  I love your verses, they are ones I run to for comfort very often!  Don’t you just LOVE the book store, I could spend hours (and have) I love the smell of new books, I love reading books and well, I do love starbucks too!  Sorry to hear you were feeling low, glad the Lord lifted your spirits, sometimes especially when we homeschool, we just NEED to get out.

  6. I do understand, so does my husband, he tries to make sure I get out on my own or with a “grown up” (LOL)  gal friend at least once a week.  We SO need to be recharged and not be a “MOM” or “TEACHER” as we never get to get away from these roles at home.  Glad I helped you I am sure you will see days like these come up on my Xanga too, we start school next week.
