Caleb waiting for breakfast this morning. . . . .

Rich and I giving our birthday boy a big smooch.

At our house, at the first birthday, the child gets to play with their cake.

Caleb was furious to have his cake taken from him. Then, Daddy butchered it!

Would you like a piece of cake? It’s sitting pretty in a “peacock” fiesta dessert bowl.

With just a little help, Caleb opened his gift. Then, we all had fun watching it spin!
We have this moment
to hold in our hands
and to touch
as it slips through our fingers like sand.
Yesterday’s gone
and tomorrow may never come
but we have this moment
today.
How absolutely adorable! How dare that mean daddy of his take away his birthday cake! The look on his face is priceless. Ainsley and I saw Caleb in the nursery this morning and I told her it was his birthday. She immediately said “Happy birdday doo you!!” as loud as she could. I still can’t believe your little guy is already one. It really flies by. Enjoy him.
Happy Birthday to your little one, hang on and enjoy!!
Happy Birthday Caleb! What a sweet little guy!
The last one was my fav. It has so much motion to it! I did not know about that tradition, so much fun!
Happy Birthday! We do that with our babies 1st birthday cakes too- makes for great photos lol
I loved this!! We did the same, let our child play with his cake. We have a baker here that actually makes a cupcake with the other cake so the child can play with it and not “mess up” the company cake. I have precious pictures of our little guy, cast and all (he tipped his stroller over a week before his birthday…i was distracted with our dog and had let go, boohoo), smashing his cake and having a blast!
Toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!
Very precious! He is a cutie pie! The cake looked yummy too!
I love babies!! my little Ally will be one at the end of this month. It makes me sad to think of how much she has grown and that soon she won’t be a baby any more. I love the ‘eat and mess’ your own cake idea!! it makes for great pictures. 🙂
P.S. I just played ‘catch up’ and read through a bunch of your past blog entries. wow! that house you and Rich are considering is GORGEOUS!! have you made an offer yet? Praying for you as you move (I can’t imagine it with 5 kids – I barely survived with my 2, but Praise the Lord it all got done!)
i noticed that the clothes came off after he ate the cake! lol just like my house!
