MMMM…. This post makes me hungry for some homemade jam. Where did you get the berries? I want to go pick some, but going with Ainsley would not be enjoyable.
well. . . . . .I cheated just a tiny bit. . . .I bought the berries from Geissler’s.They are native berries, though, fresh picked from local fields. It would be MUCH cheaper to go pick them, but I don’t have the energy to do that w/all the children. I may go on a Saturday morning with the older ones, though. The taste is out of this world!!Come over and I’ll share!
My favorite! I love homemade strawberry jam! We have wild strawberries here in Alaska and they make great jam. The berries won’t be ripe for quite a while, though. Love the pictures! You have a gift!
I see you used the inversion method! How did that work for you? I want to do the all-out canning just to experience it and make A LOT of jam or whatever. Have you ever done it with the hot water and the lids and the whole bit? I love the lost arts.
I love the “lost arts” too! Canning, like gardening, is something my mom didn’t do when I was growing up, and I want to learn how to do it. Yummy, yummy-looking jam!
Tasha Tudor would be so proud!
Love the feel of this post, wish I could sit in your backyard and eat some of this fresh Jam with you!
I want to come make jam…I guess I’ll have to go berry picking. But it doesn’t sound like too much fun with 4 kids.
