My Sister, Amanda,
IS IN LABOR!!
Stay tuned. . . . . .

It’s 3:30 and I haven’t heard anything since 9!  I’m getting anxious.  I know these things take time but I want to know what’s going on!

The kids are watching a movie (I’ve got Abbie).  I’ll write more later.

Hi, it’s 6:40 and here’s the latest:  After 11am she didn’t dilate at all (she’s stuck at 4cm).    So, They started her on petossin (sp?).  Apparently Amanda was insisting on no drugs but after a long afternoon of no progress, she agreed to the petossin.  She called me crying at like 5-ish and they were getting her ready for an epidural, something else she didn’t want.  It was the first time I had talked to her, Jason has been the one calling me.  Poor Amanda!  (Pray that she won’t have a long time pushing, she had a hard time getting Abbie out—they were talking “c-cection”, which gave her the motivation to get it over with. . .)

Jason just called while I was writing and he said that Amanda got the epidural and was loving life again!  She’s trying to sleep now and they upped the petossin.  I can’t wait until it’s over!  You all know how happy Jason usually is, he’s so serious today!  No joking around at all, very unlike him.  I’m sure he’s having QUITE the experience, too.

Okay. . . .It’s now 9:15pm.  I haven’t had any more updates.  I’m on my way to bed to read the manual to my new DIGITAL CAMERA!

  1. Oh Boy! She is a whole 11 days early! I can’t wait to see little Naomi! You’ll have to post a picture for us.

  2. I’m so glad she’s here. Thanks for keeping us updated. When are you going to see her? Is Abbie going to school today? Let me know if you need me to keep your boys so you can go up there without having to worry about them. I was supposed to keep Johanna today, but she’s sick, so I’m pretty free. I’ll call Amanda today to find out how she wants to do meals. I know she didn’t want too many visitors. 🙂

  3. I’m so happy for Amanda.  I hated having Pitocin…I needed it for all 4 of my labors – I got smart after the first one and accepted the epidural.  It made a huge difference.  Some how labor never goes the way we envision it.  I was praying for Amanda all yesterday.  I’m glad everyone is doing well.  I have another “great” niece!!!

  4. Everyone give colleen146 (my aunt) a warm welcome! She just started her blog. She’s the friend of my youth, we’re only “a year and three quarters” years apart in age and grew up together as neighbors. She’s my mom’s youngest sister. . . .Anyways. Jason was happy this morning, very relieved. Cathi, I really want to go see her at the hospital and I would love to take you up on your offer w/the boys. Visiting hours start at 12. I’m just so busy and so tired, I think I will wait to see the baby tomorrow. Do you think I’m crummy? I have so much to do and once the kids get home I don’t get as much done.

  5. I am so glad every thing turned out okay and that she did not have to have a c section!  I bet you are just itching to get over there to get your hands on her!
What camera did you get?  You must be really excited!
