when we were very young
***
He loves his soft blanket.
And sleeps with a favorite Bear.
(When he was a baby he called it a “beer”).
He makes up love songs about mommy.
(He says he wants Jesus AND mommy in his heart.)
He calls for bread and butter at night when he can’t fall asleep, and don’t tell his Dad, but I oftentimes sneak him up a slice.
(you see? food is the way to a man’s stomach, line four.)
When I read out loud, he snuggles in close.
He cries on the way to Bible study because he already misses me.
At four years old, he is still quite a big baby.
BUT. HOWEVER.
HE IS ALSO A REALLY SCARY NINJA!
*you’re scared, aren’t you?*
Beware! He can only be tamed by food, mommy, soft blankies, and a beer. I meant, a bear.
Oh Seth…you sweet boy…
Reminds me so much of my younger brother at that age…
Now my brother is 26…has a beard…and is such a young man of God….so amazing to see him grow up…
🙂 Loved this. And the last sentence made me laugh. I just so relate with my just turned 5 year old boy – there’s still such baby sweetness mixed with growing up. I just love it.
I love reading about your children, and how special and different each of them is. What I love most is that you are the kind of mother who notices these things in your children. 🙂
Seth the mighty and powerful Ninja. All of you Beware!!!
Of all of the things that 4 year old boys can do….making up love songs about mommy has to rank right up there at the top! What an awesome young man!
What a guy! I love four year olds, they are such a great mix, and so sweet. I mean scary, like a Ninja. 😉
Such a cute little Ninja!
Little boys are so fun. Enjoy him! Well..I already know you are. 😉
