On Thursday, I woke up to the announcement from my older ones that there was a two hour delay (icy rain/snow). They tried to get away with sitting around in their extra time, but, “This isn’t as fun as I thought it would be” was one comment I chuckled over. (I put them to work.)
Grace emptied the dishwasher. Jacob loaded it.
Ethan got Sarah out of bed and served her breakfast.
Ethan folded two loads of laundry.
Jacob took care of the dog.
Grace took care of her rabbit.
Ethan peeled potatoes.
I put together a beef stew while they all made their breakfasts….
The morning went on and on, the buses came at odd hours, and left, and we never did see Caleb’s bus so he spent the day home.
We read books, played games and went for a walk together.
Pictures from Thursday:
Davy and Caleb went outside and were so thrilled to finally be able to use their sleds.
The busy kitchen. Aren’t my boys getting tall?
Davy made his own egg sandwich; on an english muffin with cheese and ham~
Sarah Joy had cheerios.
The rabbit temporarily lives in the exersise room as we wait for a proper rabbit hutch.
Caleb got to stay home from school. (Caleb is the one on the right).
We played memory after Seth and Sarah went to bed for naps. Before we began, I made him hot chocolate and washed him some grapes. He’s a growing boy, after all.
We love the pictures on the cards~
Some of my very favorite things, all in one game;
At least he was a good loser.
The rain stopped and the snow melted, we went outside for a walk.
Caleb was constantly battling trees and stumps on the edge of the road.
We wore our rubber boots~
He found this watery place as we walked along; “Oh, look! A PIT! Can I go down in the pit?”
He found a better sword.
And he slapped some water with it.

I wrote this on Thursday afternoon but never did get a chance to post it. I wanted to still share it because it was a sweet day with my little Caleb. (Who is, in reality, big and quite heavy now.)
Hope you all have a good Saturday!
“But may all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
may those who love Your salvation say continually
GREAT IS THE LORD!”
Psalm 40:16

Your boys are all so cute…and all getting so big. Love, love how you make the most of the simplest times together.
What a happy Thursday! I’m glad you posted this 🙂 Sarah with her cherrios made me smile. I think it’s wonderful that you take the time to enjoy them each on their level, and in ways that fit their personalities. You’re a good momma Shanda!
Oh! I almost forgot, I am really looking forward to seeing what you embroider on Sarah’s new oneises 🙂 I love your style!
Having an emotionally hard day here. It was refreshing to read your post today:)
Shanda~ What a fun day!! Yes your boys are getting VERY tall. Don’t you just love watching them grow?! What a sweet Mama you are to spend quiet time with Caleb, who is totally adorable! Such a peaceful day – glad you enjoyed it and shared it here~~Cinnamon
This looks like a great day!!
A fun post. I loved Sarah’s Cheerio picture.
Wonderful homey sweet post. Sometimes puttering at home is special like that. Malachi just loves cherrios. They have to buy him his own box. Memory is one of my favorite games…I like the picture cards too. Glad you and Caleb had such a sweet day.
LOL on this is not as fun as I’d thought it would be 🙂
Lovely post! Wherever did you get those CUTE cards? We have a very blah thrift store matchers game. I like yours better!
