my pretty quilt

DSC_2091

One day I took my pretty quilt outside….. and I took a pillow…. and I took a book.

I relaxed in the sun and shade while the children played around me.

Soon a creature joined me.

After a while we all left the pretty quilt and by the time I got it at the end of the day, it was dampish from the ground.

So I hung it on the line.  It flipped and flapped in the breeze and dried in no time.

Sarah Joy came out to help me take it down and that is how our impromptu photo session began.

Because, we discovered, pretty quilts make wonderful backdrops for pretty baby girls.

The sun, the shade, books, grass, turtles, children, pretty quilts, clotheslines, winds, & Sarah Joy…….all things I am very thankful for indeed.

  1. A pretty baby makes a good foreground for anything….but the quilt is a great backdrop for Sarah Joy! 🙂 She’s so precious. I’m glad your able to make those quiet moments for yourself in all your busyness. 🙂

  2. She is darling! I love all the color with the quilt as a backdrop. I saw you, Grace, and Davy in some of her expressions. She has grown up so much!

  3. i love this. especially that you were able to be outside with the kids…and have a beautiful quilt to be able to enjoy it on. dear Sarah is gtting sooo big and what a beautiful little lady. i love the flower on her shirt. her smile is sooo gorgeous. i hope that the turtle was hand lifted from somewhere and he didn’t have to trod his way all across your land 😉 hope you guys had a fun time together 😉

  4. Quilts serve so many purposes. As I study genealogy, it is always so gratifying to find quilts used as backdrops in old family photos. I’ve thought for a long time that someone should write a book about this subject. So you are doing no more than following an old tradition…one worth keeping alive! And your subject (besides the quilt) is so adorable that the quilt is quite secondary.

  5. The combination of pictures and text in this post makes this one of my all time favorites. It has a storyline that could make an excellent book for small ones, with the visual interest that captivates older readers. Sarah’s many expressions are exceptionally well captured. Thank you for making my evening filled with joy.
