Today was a good day.  I didn’t cry a bit.  I felt tired but good.  As of today, Rich is officially back to work, and I was surprised how fast the hours flew by.

I admit I am not sure how I’m going to do all this next week, along with three more children AND homeschooling, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Seth’s skin is peeling a little bit.  Davy doesn’t like Seth’s cord and wants me to pull it off.  (made me laugh)  I told him, “I can’t PULL if off, it will fall off by itself and leave a belly button like yours.”

Seth is a very bright and content baby….and hardly cries at all.

I hold him every chance I get.  How can I stay away from a face this cute?

Rich is out on the couch with Seth and it’s time to watch our favorite program on TV….the Andy Griffeth Show.

Just wanted to stop by quick and tell you I had a good day.

  1. Praise God for a good day! He is so pink and beautiful, I feel like I can smell him right over the internet! There are those feet again. What a cutie We like the Andy Griffeth show too. Showing my age when I say that I watched it when I was little. All sorts of things I understand now that I didn’t then! May the good Lord wrap you all in His mercy, grace, and love tonight, Jenny

  2. Oh, I agree with onehappymomma, take it slow next week…even do just the most important subjects for a week or two. That is from an experience homeschool mommy ((hugs))

  3. as that first big picture came up i awwwwwed right out loud! love love it!! those feet in the air~ maybe he’s going to be a famous soccer player someday or an exercise trainer. ha! whatever.. he’ll be a darn cute one. =)love the AG show too~ i think we own every dvd!

  4. Oh, I just want to kiss him!!!  I wish I could come and stay with you for a few days and help you take care of your brood.  (then I could hold the baby….)  Be sure to sleep, friend.

  5. Glad to hear you had a good day! I imagine there will be many ups and downs as the family adjusts to a baby, but you are going to do great! You know, the beauty of homeschooling is the flexibility of the schedule. You can decide to go a couple weeks longer in the Spring and cut yourself some slack now when you need it! Do half lessons or teach just one subject a day and then gradually add the others back in. I am praying you will find the right balance and rhythm for it all. How wonderful that Seth is a nice, mellow little guy! Still, don’t be hard on yourself if you have to put some things on hold. Ask Rich to bring dinner home occasionally to save you the stress of meal prep and clean up. It’s OK! I know when one of my kids was born, I thought I could be “super woman” and it was just so wrong! I put unrealistic expectations on myself. Now I can see it was just my stupid pride! LOL! But everyone had to suffer for it. Anyway…. I continue to pray for bright and smooth days for you and your dear family. HUGS from Denmark

  6. Oh, my dear! Have FUN this year! You won’t believe me – I know you won’t – but I seriously put “school stuff” aside for the more important YEAR OF THE BABY.  We read a lot, and on ambitions days or weeks we “did studies,” and the children miraculously didn’t fall behind, but I never pressured myself to get everyone on a school schedule strictly.  It was a huge priority to me that the baby was held A LOT, the children enjoy him A LOT, and we remember that year A LOT.  Relax, drink from your favorite mug, and enjoy your half dozen blessings.  Math and science will always be there.  That baby will be BIG soon!
    loves!

  7. Awwww! He’s SO brand new, Shanda!!! I’m glad you had a good day. This may be a good time to start training your older children to do more household chores. My girls have been a huge help this week while I’ve been sick. They do things like empty the dishwasher and put things where they belong (IF they can reach), sweep the kitchen floor, dust with a Swiffer duster, Comet in the bathrooms, etc. Luci and Rissy did their own laundry after I helped pour the detergent & fabric softener. They transferred to the dyer and folded or hung their own things. They were a life saver for me this week because I ALWAYS have daily laundry. Our state has no structure for parents teaching at home, so we do year round school and report to no one. I don’t know what your state expects, but do they give leeway for school breaks – due to new babies being born??!!

  8. Everyone is gathered around my computer oooing and awwwing over Seth.  Jaxon wanted to know why his knees were so wrinkely.  They all agreed that he is just the “sweetest and the cutest little baby.”  He is absolutely adorable.  I’m glad to hear your day went well yesterday.  I think we are working on yet another illness.  It figures.  Daddy and the two older boys are going hunting this weekend.  I’ll be home with the 3 youngest.  They always come down with something when daddy leaves.

  9. I’m so glad you had a good day.  He is adorable.  I would want to hold him all day to:)  It sounds like you have him in a good routine already.  I’m hoping things continue to go well for you.

  10. I was a little late finding out about Seth’s birth–I spent a good chunk of time yesterday just sitting and catching up on everything (although I did skim the part where you talked about labor–with mine coming up in three and a half months I can’t hear anyone else’s stories or I get too nervous). He is such a sweetheart! I’m so happy for you all, and I echo the other comments–don’t worry too much about the school, enjoy the family!

  11. Seth is blessedly, completely adorable! Do you just stare and stare and stare at him?!?!? He certainly is a foot sticker upper, huh? Love and invisible hugs, Gail

  12. What a blessing!  I’m so sorry I missed Seth’s ‘birthday’!  I’ve been away for a little while, but I’ve been catching up on the new little member of your family!  I love the photos of him!  He is indeed, precious!   I’m also glad you had a good day … you have a good day tomorrow, too!  Blessings <><
