(my fiestaware came today!!!!)

Are you in a bad mood right now?  Are you a little low?

If so, I have a suggestion for you!  I know it will cheer you up if you just make sounds like a sheep!

Do this, BAAAAAA BAAAAA BAAAAA  BAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Really put all you’ve got into it.  Be as dramatic as you can, but stay life-like.  BE a sheep.  Soon you will be roaring with laughter!  I promise.

If you need inspiration, here’s a photo for you:

Yes, I’m a little silly right now after our day at Old Sturbridge Village.  It’s amazing what a day of fun will do!

And, as far as the animal noises go, that’s what you get when you’ve been reading countless children’s books for the last 11 years.  I’m so brainwashed by those books that I automatically just make the noises if I even SEE a picture of an animal.  I used to be shy about it when I read, “What does a cat say?  Meow.  What does a dog say?  Bow-wow” and so on.  But, not any more.  I throw myself right into it.  You should have heard me clucking like a hen the other day.  David was ROARING with laughter and I kept ruining the sound by laughing in the middle of it.  Very fun.

ANYWAY.  (yes, and I had coffee not long ago, too.)

I asked my friend Kathy to go to Old Sturbridge Village with me.  She has four children that are about the same ages as my own children and they have been friends for a long time.  Some of them even went to school together.  They are the best of friends.  So, they were thrilled to get a chance to spend most of the day running around and playing.  Another advantage was that I had someone to yap with while the kids played, too.  That’s always a good thing.

David and Emily are quite the cute couple.  Kathy and I got to be close friends when these two were babies and it’s been so sweet to watch them grow together.  They get along so well.

Caleb, by the way, did SO SO good.  He’s getting to be a big boy and walked just about the whole time.  What a joy he is!!!!  They all are.  Grace and Tristan like to talk.  Ethan and Caitlyn like to race.

My favorite spot.  I didn’t go in today, though.  We were waiting outside for Kathy when I took this picture.  You can see me in the door, though.

It was a great day in every way.  Okay, I admit, it was a bit much to keep track of the kids but for the most part, not too bad.  Everyone had fun and the weather was perfect.  Not too cold, not too hot.

Last, but not least,

My fiestaware order came today!!!!  It was fun to open up the boxes.  Everything arrived safe and sound.

This is a close up of an oval casserole dish (IMO, it’s too small for my family). . . . .but still, so pretty!

And, here are the bowls.  Jacob took this picture.  I told him not to cut my feet out because they matched the shamrock casserole dish

I must say, the dishes are all beautiful!!!  I love everything about them and am happy (to say the least) that I bought them.

Okay, I better go try to unwind.  TOMORROW WE HAVE WORKERS COMING TO START ON THE BASEMENT REMODEL. (after the basement is done they will start on the garage)

They will be here at 6:30 in the morning

So, my busy life is about to get busier.  I knew this was coming so I’m not too concerned.

I’ll be fine, right?

  1. you are too funny!  I didn’t make a sheep sound, but I did smile 🙂
That looks like such a fun place to visit! And the bookstore–a perfect spot to spend a rainy afternoon with a hot cup of tea!

  2. Loving your new dishes and your sandals too. I get pretty dramatic while reading to my kids as well, I guess I take after my Grammie, she made reading SO FUN. Stop by if you get a chance, I got to see Doris today.

  3. Oh, I so needed to read this post right now!!!! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAA! Ahhh…I feel so much better! :oP This post made me smile! (as always!) I love those bowls! Oh, they are HUGE! Awesome! and that green dish! and the matching shoes! :o) Oh, I love it! Carry that dish around with you every time you wear those shoes! It is the perfect accessory! For real! :o) Haha! That book store! OH, I wish once again I could jump through the computer into your picture! and your little kiddos are so sweet! Love the black and white picture!! Adorable! and I grew up on a sheep farm! I bet you didn’t know that one! So seeing those sweet sheep makes me miss being little and being able to go out and “play” with the sheep!

  4. See! Now thats what normal moms do with their children. Hm. I’ll have to take on an Indian Village by myself I guess.
    Your bowls are gorgeous!
    BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  5. That is funny, I had to laugh at that.    It looks like you had a great day out with the kids & with your friend!   I love your new dishes!!   And the sandals to:)   Good luck tomorrow!

  6. I’ve been in a terrible mood all week – you’re right making sheep noises helps! Even just reading about making sheep noises makes me smile Gowing up our family was close to another family whoes children fit inbetween ours age-wise. We homeschooled a lot together, went on vacation together, and we best friends. We have gone our separate ways now, but, when I look back at my childhood, the memories with that family are my favorite. It’s  blessing to be close friends like that

  7. You make me smile, smile, smile sweet friend!!  Sometimes I think we are so much alike that we just couldn’t get anymore alike.  Like this post…you sound just like me.  Seriously I get weird like this.  But other times I see (read) our differences.  It’s good though.  I learn from you and am uplifted by you.

  8. oh the fiesta ware is lovely! love the pic of you and the beautiful new dishes! 🙂 so cheery! 🙂 looks like a fun time ~ I have been to N. England a few times and always loved it — the history, the bookstores, the farms and such — just wonderful — would love a tour from you one day 😉

  9. I am afraid if I start meowing, baa-ing and mooing my husband is going to come over here and take my temperature! Just reading about YOU doing it puts a smile on my face!  I love the photos and your new bowls. I bet the big one would be great for making a batch of bread. I am sure your boys will see the basement remodel as a high form of entertainment.   6:30 AM? Whew!

  10. Oh, I LOVE you and Grace in the red – so pretty! Old Sturbridge looks so nice – I’d like to go there some day, maybe when I visit my good friend in Boston if it’s not too far from there…

  11. I LOVE that green! I will have to start collecting Fiesta just so I can have all the fabulous green shades. I’m glad you had a good day yesterday. That looks like fun. I haven’t been to Old Sturbridge Village since the summer I was pregnant with Lorelei. We took my parents to Newport, RI yesterday. It was beautiful, but so very windy!

  12. The dishes are beautiful!  The green bowl will be perfect for small sides or condiments right?  Or…can you picture it filled with lovely red cherries (if they ever come down in price….$5 a pound around here right now!!!)  Or maybe delicious red strawberries?  A colorful relish?

  13. you crack me up!! I’d baaaa like a sheep but it would be one w/ a seriously plugged nose – as I have a horrible cold!! :/ 🙂 the outing looks like so much fun. great to share the day w/ friends. Several “details” from this post I liked – Grace’ RED coat!! your GREEN shoes!! and those heavenly YELLOW bowls!! NE is NOT that terribly far from here – we’ll have to plan a “halfway visit” one of these days!! =D

  14. From one sheeple people to another I loved BAAaaaaaaaaaaaing a good bit, and yes it did make me smile. I just loved this post sweet friend. Life has become unutterably busy. It seems I just don’t stop. I am grateful to have stopped by (I missed you) and seeing these precious pictures. I needed a good Baaaaaaaaaaaa. blessings and love in SC (OX)

  15. You will be fine! The hope set before you is that finshed garage! LOL!
You are so cute, I saw the picture before I read the words and knew right away that you wanted the green of your shoes in the picture!!!
The bookstore looks like I place I would like to go in as well!

  16. Good Morning Shanda……Love the pictures! Your Fiesta Ware is beautiful, bright, colorful. Sounds like you all had a very fun day. Your post made me laugh…..
I’m happy for Grace that she got a riding lesson. I used to ride horses when I was ALOT younger. I love horses. My dad and uncle used to have horses. My dad had a horse that had a spot in the middle of his “forehead” in the shape like a star and guess what his name was?…..Star! I even tried barrell racing…like in a rodeo. But never followed through with it. My cousins taught me how.
Anyways. I wish I had a nice big porch to sit out and watch the rain. I just love that idea.
Have a Beautiful Day!! Hope the basement remodel goes smoothly!!

  17. Thanks for this post.  I have been a grumpy Mommy for the past two days, not sure why exactly — but this made me smile.  Thanks.

  18. Those bowls look so great for mixing up something yummy…..it is extra nice to have them so beautiful……helps to make everyday special.  Such great pictures of you all and your outing!  I love children and animals!  My boys and their wives are coming tonight!!! I am so excited….we only have them for a weekend, but it will be so nice to all be together.  David is under the weather with a stomach and headache thing …he caught from me ;-( Please pray he would get over it today! Lord bless, Jenny

  19. I like it when you are silly and you made me laugh!  I would love to go to sturbridge village sometime!  I love places like that!  The picture of Emily and David is so sweet and I love how Kathy’s kids put their arms around your kids in the pictures.  Too cute!  I LOVE THAT GREEN COLOR of the fiesta ware!  Those colors together remind me of a John Deere tractor.  I hope you have a great weekend!  BAAA BAAA!
