The ice was perfect for skating.
David had on 2 different mittens,
Grace’s hand-me-down snowpants,
and Caleb’s hat.
I love how his ear lobes are poking out of the hat, because it’s too small.
He is a good, fast little skater.
And he thinks it’s fun to fall down.
Grace had her Dad’s gloves on and Aunt Amanda’s hat.
She had Ethan’s coat on.
Caleb had to wear socks on his hands.
I laughed, because at one point they came off and I asked him, “Caleb where did your socks go?”
He froze and stood looking down at his feet.
I could just imagine his little mind wondering, “Where did my socks go?”
When I “corrected” myself and said, “mittens”, he knew right where they were. ![]()
We went down to the stream to see the water.
And Grace handed Caleb some ice to eat.
Yum.
If this tree could talk, I’m sure she would brag about her natural curls.
We came upon a flock of Robins in the woods.
We also saw a woodpecker. Here is Grace, watching the birds with me.
When we came inside again, I was sitting on the couch, deleting unwanted pictures from my camera.
The kids were watching tv and when I looked up,
I thought the boys looked so cozy–this is Jacob and David.
I love their relationship soooo much.

o how fun! i have never ice skated outside on real frozen water and have always wanted to do that. your photos look like a storybook. and grace’s hat is the cutest, love it!
David’s pretty good on those skates! Good for him. 🙂 Have a great afternoon.
How lovely to be out enjoying the beauty of the pond and forest. Amazing to see Davy doing so well on those skates. It is snowing in our local mountains…but would be a couple hour journey to get there. Sometime this winter we hope to go up for some fun and snow play. A rainy week for us here…but the clouds are beautiful and the hills are finally turning green.
My favorite shot is the last one with the boys looking all comfy. Always encourage their love for one another and care for each other. Our boys have a great love for one another….and knowledge that their brothers will always love them. It is priceless. As young men they are still so very affectionate with one another…it fills me with joy when I see them throw themselves at one another to hug when they get together after being apart. My sis Mary’s daughter, Bri, is the closest to a daughter for me, and it is fun to see the love there too. She usually jumps up into her cousins arms. I love it. Have a great day, Jenny
What a treat to have your own family skating rink. The kid pictures are happy ones.
“natural curls”, eh? ~ cute! LOL! I think the robins must be frozen, don’t you?
I LOVE how kids will grab whatever fits to go out and play. The pictures of your kids made me chuckle, that is what my kiddos look like on most days. Still praying for little Weston, hope he is doing better.
Love your posts…always. Praying for your SWEET nephew…ahhh, baby fever strikes again!
I really like how you capture their relationship too! My older two boys are good friends and play together all the time, but my oldest would never tolerate being a pillow! I often fast foward when I see pictures like these to what their relationship will be like when they are adults. It seems to me to be as close to a perfect relationship there is.
Robins! I haven’t seen any here yet, and we live south of you! Great pictures. I love the pictures of your boys watching TV.
The music at your site, combined with your “ice rink” pictures, was wonderful! I felt like I was there, outdoors, watching your children skate to the music. I can’t imagine skating in my own backyard! What a picturesque sight! As always, loved the birds. Also, enjoyed those newborn baby pics! So, how are things with you this week?
What beautiful pics…is the ice rink on the lake in the pics by your home? Hope you have a great day tomorrow! Lisa
Ok, if I could quit giggling about that tree and her “natural curls” I might be able to formulate a nice comment here.
What fun! Trying to get dressed to go outside in the winter is such a memory; we always had clothes that were too big or too small, hand me downs, and things on the wrong parts of out body! such as socks on our hands 🙂
Looks like Davy has a pretty good start on being a skating star! I love the clothes swap, too! And Grace looks so in awe of the birds — that’s a neat shot, as is the one of Davy and Jacob. What a fun day!
Shanda-that looks like so much fun. How precious.
Is this pond near your house??? I am so jealous, your kids get to play in the creek spring, summer and fall and now they get to ice skate too outside, just like….just like my dad did. Part of me wants to say goodbye to the suburban life and take off for the country!
Such cool photo’s. I got some giggles out of your descriptions of the clothes and the conversation with Caleb. To cute! Love, Lish
