prayer

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

And this I pray,

that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in judgment;

that ye may approve things that are excellant;

that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:8-11

“God looks not at the elegancy of your prayers,
to see how neat they are;
nor yet at the geometry of your prayers,
to see how long they are;
nor yet the arithmetic of your prayers,
to see how many they are;
nor yet at the music of your prayers,
nor yet the sweetness of your voice,
nor yet at the logic of your prayers;
but at the sincerity of your prayers,
how hearty they are.
There is no prayer acknowledged, approved,
accepted, recorded, or
rewarded by God, but that wherein the heart
is sincerely and wholly.”

Thomas Brooks

I hope you all had a wonderful, refreshing weekend.  Our Pastor just finished up a study on the book of Philippians and I thought I would share a few verses this morning, along with the awesome quote by Brooks.

In about half and hour I am taking the kids on a field trip, with other homeschooling families from my church.

Have a great day!

  1. Beautiful pics and words.  You should make a coffee table book.  I’d buy it.  🙂  Ryc: The tooth has not been decided upon just yet.  Sam hasn’t been to the dentist yet (in his life), and we’re not too sure he would let them do anything to it just yet.  It doesn’t seem to be so sharp that it is cutting his tongue or anything.  It looks awful (to me!), but I think Dave wants to wait on it.  The dentist would probably put a cap on it (a white one, I would hope!).  We’re such procrastinators, it will probably fall out before we decide to do anything about it!  LOL  Isn’t that awful?

  2. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.  When I looked at your beautiful pictures, I realized that a home doesn’t have to be a museum.  It should be HOMEY….beautiful old and new things all around.  You made me see that it’s OK to have a lot of books, antiques, beautiful things that family passed down, magazines, etc. around your home.  I was struggling with this, because I would start to get nervous when everything wasn’t where it should be and also if I had too much around the house. However, after viewing your home, God shared with me that this is truly what makes a HOUSE a HOME.  For this I thank you.  What a beautiful post this is as well.  Many Blessings.

  3. Beautiful music! Thanks for sharing the quote by Brooks, I will share it with my children tonight when they say their prayers. What pretty red berries, especially the one with the sparkling drop of water.
