Collecting Sea Shells
Kathy and I took our kids to the CT shore yesterday
for an afternoon of sun and sand. We had a
total of 9 kids all together; they all did very
well and had a lot of fun together. It was a gorgeous
day and I was happy to make more memories for the children.
As you can see, the little boys got all tired out!

This is one of my favorite quotes, and the reason why
I think it’s important to do special, out-of-the-ordinary things
with the kids now and then:
“If we make our children happy now, we will make them
happy twenty years hence by their memory of it. Thus
for all their lives do we link ourselves to
those we love.” ~ Maggie B. Stewart

I love it when my kids fall asleep in their car seats like that, it totally cracks me up. Looks like lots of fun!Do you live in CT? I wondered where you live because of the amount of land that you have, hard to find these days!
I like Grace laughing in the last picture in the background.
Collecting seashells made me smile! π
Thank you for your encouragement — I’m so enjoying my new camera! Looks like you wore your little guys out at the beach!! We’re headed for Holden Beach, NC next week — can’t wait!
I LOVE the last two pictures, shows how much fun they had.
That’s a great quote! I tried to make lots of great memories with my girls, and now, on those rare occasions when we are all together, it’s fun to hear “Remember when…..?” Those sweet little guys were plumb tuckered out!
That’s a great quote-makes me feel bad for being so grumpy lately! They’re going to remember their crabby old mom when they grow up, yikes! Looks like so much fun. Around here, it’s hard to find a stretch of beach that isn’t packed full of people.
Aw, I have wonderful memories, growing up, of the times my Mom and her friend; Janene would take all of us children to the shore. There were nine kids when we were all together too. Those were such fun times. We always stopped at the little ice cream shop on the way home for an ice cream sandwich.
I love the pictures. It looks like everyone had a wonderful time!
Thanks for such a beautiful post…..it blessed me!:):)
Have a great day,
Jana
I love that quote ~
What a great quote. Love the pictures!
A very true quote!I see it in Brianna at 19. She is a very good student and a hard working employee, but boy does she know how to have fun and delight in the simple joys of life.Spence and I have always tried to create a life balance with work and play…keeps us all healthy
I LUV these pictures of your children..especially the B&W one. It makes me smile
SO CUTE! I wish I could just drive a couple hours to an ocean beach.
Passed out with chicken nuggets! I love it!
It looks like all of you had a wonderful time. It would make me nervous watching all those kids around the water, though. But I guess you’re used to it. :)I just want to give little Caleb a pillow. π
Dear Shanda, every day I see your letter. I keep it sitting next to my bible. One day you will recieve a long letter in return, but in till then I invite you to go look at my posts from May 30-June 5th, 2006.The photos will give you a glimpse into my life over the past 18 years…I think you’ll see we value many of the same things/Love, Mary

I love the Maggie Stewart quote and I think it is so true.
Be sure and find a little time for yourself too.
Oh how fun, and what a sweet quote. That’s great that you live so close to the coast. It’s one of my favorite places to be…so calm, peaceful, romantic….=)
Great quote! It’s one of my favorites! I wish we were closer to the beach. Have a great weekend~ Laurel
It makes for good memories for Moms during those quiet reflections on the back porch after children have all grown up and taken their good memories with them. ONCE AGAIN, sweet pictures of a sweet family during a sweet time of life. You always make me sigh with contentment. Thanks with love.
Is the shore far from where you live? The quote matches you as a mother so well! I love the picture of Kathy it is such a quintessential “Mom” picture!
