It snowed again last night.  I went outside this morning and ths snow is so soft to walk through, like foamy whipped cream.  I refilled my bird feeders, the cardinals are loving the sunflower seed.  Yesterday on the way to choir practice I saw a blue bird.  What a wonderful shade of blue they are.  I think I’d like to paint something “blue-bird” BLUE.

A real Christian is an odd number anyway.  He feels supreme love for One whom he has never seen, talks familiarly every day to Someone he cannot see, expects to go to heaven on the virtue of Another, empties himself in order to be full, admits he is wrong so he can be declared right, goes down in order to get up, is strongest when he is weakest, richest when he is poorest, and happiest when he feels worst.  He dies so he can live, forsakes in order to have, gives away so he can keep, sees the invisible, hears the inaudible, and knows that which passeth knowledge.  A.W. Tozer

********************************

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve;
I was made weak, that I may learn humbly to obey.
I asked God for health, that I may do greater things;
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I may be happy;
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men;
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life;
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for but everything that I hoped for.
I am, among men, most richly blessed.

  1. I have always loved the poem by the confederate soldier.  It is so true.  We often want things in this life to be easy and comfortable.  But God gives us trials and problems to make us stronger so that we are able to cling to him and then be able to help each other through their hard times.  We are never alone in our struggles He is right there with us and sometimes he blesses us enough to give us someone here on earth to go through those rough spots with.

  2. Sitting here at my computer, still wrapped in my robe and shawl, just smiling and filled with joy from  all your pictures, thoughts and quotes. Beautifully done…a praise from the heart in words and images

  3. Oh how adorable!  A sweet baby boy….*happy sigh*   Loved the fresh green pine against the white snow.
    Beautiful thoughts and words.  We love A.W. Tozer at our house.  : )
    Blessings to you today as you serve the Lord in your home!  Love,    ~Amelia

  4. Yes, I know what you  mean to have a clean and fresh baby! There is nothing like it, the smell of their skin, the touch of softness on their skin. I love to smell Cole’s hair and under his neck after I have bathed him. Bath time with Cole is a hoot. He loves splashing around in the water and playing with his toys. Caleb is adorable, I know you could just eat him up. Love the quotes. Have a wonderful day my friend!

  5. That is such a wonderful quote from Tozer.  I agree with it whole heartedly!  Christians ought to be a peculiar people.  I may copy that quote and use it either on my blog or just to share with others…is that ok?

  6. What an adorable baby boy!  I love your quotes!  How inspirational!  And that photograph is breathtaking!  Thank you for sharing all of that with me today!  πŸ™‚

  7. His smile is so sweet!  I was just commenting to a friend tonight that I need to take more walks and that I have not been out as much as I was last winter. And now I sit here thinking how nice it would be to take a walk with you on your property and help you fill the feeders…
