It started snowing this morning and all of a sudden we’re all happy again. Hee hee. . . .it’s amazing. . .the Christmas spirit is upon me. . .I feel snug and cozy in my house with my children all around. They begged for pancakes this morning and I mixed them up while they quickly put on their snow things and went outside to explore.
They have been so excited to see snow again.
David has a mitten on one hand and a sock on the other. He found an icicle and knocked on the door. When I opened the door he held it up for me to see and said, “Look what I found. It looks like a hammer of ice.” Yes it did, actually.
The other kids have the sleds out already, even though the snow is barely covering the ground. When they came in for breakfast they told me that they had been throwing rocks in the thinly iced pond, making small holes. I can understand why that would be fun!
This view is from my bathroom window.
“I made feet! I looked and I said, WOW! I did that! I made feet!” David, age 4
Pancakes ~ (this is my favorite recipe for pancakes)
2 1/2 cups flour
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups buttermilk (or sour milk–you add vinegar to regular milk and let it sit for a few mintutes)
1/3 cup sugar
2 heaping tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup oil
1/4 tsp. salt
Mix all together until smooth. Yum.
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Ps 90

Wow, I wish we had that kind of snow down here. Glenn just left for Canada and it will be snowing there for the next few days. Looks so cozy and fun at your house! The snow is beautiful. Young children say the cutest things. I pray you have a wonderful day today.
I enjoy your photo-journaling so much. The snow pictures make me homesick for Michigan! What type of camera do you use, btw?
Oh what a joyous morning you are having! The first two photos are just marvelous! ~ especially the first one. I wanna be there!

The snow was the highlight of the morning at our house, too. π
My kids did the same yesterday, when we awoke to snow here.

Those are great pictures! I like the one of your kids walking around the pond (lake?). I make pancakes similar to yours but I like to add cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice or allspice or all of the above to the batter before cooking them. Oh, they just taste so good this way!! Hope your week is going well. : )
I love the first snow…..then I want it to go away. So I guess I live in the perfect place for that! I’m glad you are all having fun with the snow! I hope you get more.
Thank you for the recipe, I have been looking for a *good* pancake recipe I love the pictures and the saying too, how adoreable!
Do you know what I find amazing about all this snow that’s coming down for everyone? Every snowflake is uniquely different because God can do that!!
Enjoy your own special snowflakes!
Beautiful pictures…Wish we could see a little snow about now, but in Ms you’re pretty lucky to get much. If it even flurries, it’s an exciting time around here. =) Blessings to you and your family this special Christmas Season!
I’ll have to try your recipe. My kids adore pancakes! Laurel
Alex screamed with utter glee yesterday morning when he saw the snow, he wanted to make snow angels. I had to explain that there probably wasn’t enough snow to make them, and he was still sick. Poor kiddo nearly cried when we went to pick up Casey at school and most of the snow was gone. I love the pics, and I’m glad you guys had a great day. π *hugs* Love, Trish
winter is nice, but christmas is always dissapointing
