I remember Grandma’s Roses

As little ones, we used to run around Grandma’s  rose bush. . . . . .

. . . . . . they smelled so good. . . . . .

The thorns were very sharp!

I want to slow down long enough to smell the roses, I want to look at them, touch them, and remember Grandma.  I am thankful that my mom gave me a piece of her rosebush.  It’s a tiny thing, but loaded with buds.

Family, do you remember when Grandpa cut the rosebush down?  It grew back. . . .I don’t know what kind of roses these are, but they sure do love to grow!

  1. These are so pretty. My grandma always had roses, too. I remember them in front of her house in Chicago. I don’t think she has any or at least not as many as she did now that she lives in South Carolina. She always said they were so much work. I have three rose bushes and barely take care of them, and they are doing just fine. πŸ™‚

  2. I was traumatized when she cut the rose bush down…I was gone on my trip to Europe.  I came home to find the rose bush gone.  I should dig up a sprout for my house.  I always had a ton of roses and I loved having the rose petal wars…you only had to make sure you didn’t grab one that had a bee in it.

  3. I love roses!  my husband gave me a rosebush after the birth of my daughter.  Now we are moving!! 😦  I hope I can transplant it and not kill it!  any ideas?  what is the best way to transplant/move a small rose bush?

  4. I was just smelling the roses at my Mom’s house and thinking about how much I would love a bench out back surrounded in roses.
So is this one a transplant from home?
    Awesome pics!
